Void · Roam · Bad Juju · Skull of Dire Ahamkara
Obsidian Mind NovaChecked — links and guide are done
Skull of Dire Ahamkara grants Super energy on Nova Bomb final blows and on weapon final blows while you have Devour, and Supercyclical pays again for anything killed while your Super was out. Stack them and one Nova Bomb into a crowded room returns something like half your Super, occasionally most of it. Actual Grandeur also hands you a free Nova Bomb: Lance after the cast, weaker but fast, and empowers a Cataclysm you detonate with it.
How it plays
Build your Super with Bad Juju and grenades, throw it at the densest thing you can find, collect most of it back, and top the rest off with the gun.
Your grenade does more than charge the Super. Chaos Accelerant makes Axion Bolt throw double seekers, and Echo of Undermining makes your Void grenades weaken. Echo of Harvest then turns a weakened kill into an Orb of Power and a Void Breach, and Void Hegemony turns the same kill into a Void Overshield. Feed the Void adds Devour on any ability kill.
Echo of Expulsion explodes Void ability kills, which is mostly for the look. Echo of Reprisal grants Super energy for final blows while surrounded, a fourth refund on a build that already has three.
Why the gear
Skull of Dire Ahamkara and four Iron Battalion — the build. Supercyclical, the four-piece, is the half most people will not have, and it grants Super energy for final blows landed while your Super was active, paid out when it ends. Primary Honing, the two-piece, scales primary damage against non-boss combatants off your Weapons stat, which is a quiet argument for putting spare points there.
Bad Juju — the nostalgia pick, and correct. String of Curses refills the magazine on kills, increases damage for a short duration, and grants Super energy, so it closes the gap between the refund and a full bar. Bring whatever you like instead. Nothing else tops off a Super this fast.
The Beacon and the Refurbished A499 — flexible. Nothing on the Artifact reads a Fusion Rifle or a Sniper Rifle, though the A499 is Kinetic, so its final blows feed Elemental Siphon the way Bad Juju’s do.
Artifact — Hunter’s Journal, for Void Hegemony, Elemental Siphon and Expanding Abyss. Expanding Abyss is the damage one: Void sources hit weakened targets harder, and your grenades weaken constantly. Take Shieldcrush alongside, since you hold a Void Overshield most of the time. Tablet of Ruin’s Limit Break for a bigger Nova Bomb is a defensible swap.
A second opinion on the same build
The same Exotic, subclass and Bad Juju will also build around your melee instead of your Super. Soul Siphon replaces Chaos Accelerant, so a Pocket Singularity kill lets you drain nearby combatants for a Void Overshield.
That means 200 Melee for a 30% increase to Soul Siphon’s damage, reached at 160 on the armor plus two melee fonts in the gloves. Then 100 Super and 90 Grenade with what is left. Echo of Provision feeds your melee back, and Echo of Vigilance becomes droppable once the overshield arrives from the Aspect rather than from an emergency kill.
It takes the Episode Echoes Artifact rather than the Hunter’s Journal, for Shieldcrush and Void Hegemony together. Shieldcrush grants melee damage and regeneration while you hold a Void Overshield, and Void Hegemony grants the overshield for defeating weakened targets.
The spread
200 Super, because the entire premise is throwing it constantly. 100 Grenade, and treat it as a floor rather than a target. Your grenade applies the weaken, feeds Devour, generates the orbs and the Void Breach, and is doing damage in its own right.
Weapons after that, for Primary Honing and for Bad Juju. Class is the alternative if you would rather have your Rift more often. Melee and Health do nothing here.
